This lot is mostly Owyhee blue opal. Hand carved leaves, solid blue rondelles and facted oval mixed with pearls and Czech glass beads.

Owyhee Blue Opal is found in the United States around the Owyhee mountain range on the Oregon-Idaho border and the Owyhee River which is held sacred to indigenous Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. It was discovered in the 1960s. Opals without the play-of-color are known as “common opals” but don't let the name fool you, Owyhee Opal a stunning stone and is only found in one place in the world. Owyhee Blue Opal generally has a sky-blue, opaque appearance.
